COMING BACK

I'm planning a comeback to blogging again.  I've missed reading posts and connecting with others.  First thing I will have to do is relearn the pages and design elements.  My homepage looks quite different with many of my lists not there.

I have been doing a lot of quilting, a bit of remodelling and some reading.  Back soon.

CHRISTMAS GIFTS ALL PAID FOR

Kind of cool to be only the 13th of December and all my Christmas giving is paid for.  I had some help this year with the budget from some online earning sites.  I like several of them but I have to admit that I have a favorite. IGC which stands for Instant Gift Cards is the one I like and ususally do first each day.  It is simple to do and has a great chat group right on the earnings page. Best of all, when you ear a card it is credited immediately. Some of the other takes up to a month to credit you. You might try it out. I make at least a dollar every day. Not a lot to some but it adds up.  Here's the link  if you want to try it out. And yes, if you sign up from that link, I get a little reward for that too. free money

NATURAL SEPARATION

Today I’m going through old file folders and I’ve come to one labeled with my daughter's name. It’s messily fat. Open it up and lay a couple pictures aside and find this envelope, unglued from it’s seams and laid flat and filled with my hand-writing. Instantly I am sitting in front of her middle school waiting to pick her up when this revelation hits me and I have to write it down. No paper so I grabbed this envelope and tear it open to create a writing page. Now, what 15, 16 years later? The heart gripping panic still assails me. It was the moment of the beginning of the natural separation of my youngest and me. Here’s what I wrote:

“I used to be able to spot my daughter as the whole school let out--by the turn of her head or the strut of her sturdy little body. Now she’s fourteen and when school lets out there must be 500 girls the same height and size, hair swinging the same length, either long and free or pulled back into a nape-of-the-neck pony tail; all dressed in the uniform they voluntarily wear. Faded pale jean shorts and long-tailed Tshirts emblazoned with sarcastic blurbs about “winning”, “having no fear” or “partying cold and naked.” Feet encased in costly athletic star-endorsed running shoes. I wonder if she didn’t come home one night--would I know what she had on to describe to the police? I used to dress her so I knew--not so anymore."

It has been a long road of comings and goings but I know she'd survive very well if I were gone Home. That is comforting.

ENTERED IN CONTEST

I'm entered in this weeks contest at http://quiltinggallery.com Quilts for Babies. If you like my quilt would you please vote for it. It is Circus Bears. Just go to http://quiltinggallery.com and scroll down to Vote Now and you'll find the click here. Lots of cute quilts there. Thanks so much for considering mine.

I am in Beautiful Vermont where right now I am sitting in a hotel activity room looking out a window at a lovely covered bridge. The leaves are only just now getting a hint of color and next fall I am planning an October visit so I can get them in all their glorious splendor. Tomorrow my granddaughter exchanges wedding vows with her fiancee. Her mother, my daughter has remained remarkably calm. She does have a little bit of an illusion that everyone should quit being who they are and cave into to every bridal whim no matter how scattered...yeah, like that's gonna happen. It really has went very smooth for the most part. This morning when those sharing my room have risen, I will take over the room with the sewing machine to make the maid of honor's sash. You know the sewing person is the last to finish! Makes one very important...LOL

I am so thankful for cell phones! It has untethered me to roam freely scouting out things others have no interest in...old Gramma things!  They just call me a bit in advance when they are ready to do something and I can say "oh, go along without me on this one." or "I'll be there in a few minutes."

Life is grand! Pictures soon.
